Dark Air Cured Tobacco is a type of tobacco that undergoes a fermentation process when dried in a drying barn. This fermentation process gives the tobacco a blackish brown color and a distinctive aroma. Dark air cured tobacco is usually used to make cigars, black cigarettes, pipe blends, chewing tobacco, and other tobacco products. DAC is packaged in the form of wrapper/binder, (butted) loose leaf and hand stripped. In Indonesia, most Dark Air-Cured (DAC) tobacco is produced in Jember while in Central Java and North Sumatra with smaller production. The Besuki-NOTA type is produced in the dry season and Besuki-NO (traditional) is produced in the rainy season.
